Freshly pressed vs store bought OJ
Store-bought orange juice is actually not as healthy for you as you might think. It contains a lot of added sugar, and the vitamin C actually begins to break down as soon as the fresh juice is pressed. This means that all the 'healthy goodies' have to be added back into the juice to make it 'healthy' again. Doesn't sound right to me!
Commercially available orange juice has so many added flavors, additives and other preservatives that freshly squeezed orange juice is by far the healthiest option.

How long can you keep freshly squeezed orange juice in the fridge?
Freshly squeezed orange juice can be stored in the refrigerator in an airtight, non-reactive container for 2 to 3 days.
The acid in the juice will start to eat away at the plastic, so using glass bottles or jars is the best option. Stainless steel containers or bottles will also work, but again the acid can react with some metals, creating off-flavored juice.

I LOVE freshly squeezed, once you get it you can't buy it in the store. The juicer is a must. I want to take my boss some freshly squeezed juice from time to time and she just returned the favor with a really nice new juicer and she also brings me a box of oranges. Freshly squeezed is one of my splurges. Everyone should have a glass a day for better health. I can't say enough. If I didn't live in the mountains, I would definitely have an orange tree!Response

I love orange juice. I also add carrot juice. Both are full of vitamins. I also add my orange juice to my smoothies, instead of water, along with dark leafy greens and a little lemon juice. It's today's healthiest rejuvenating shake…

What's the difference between orange juice and freshly squeezed orange juice? ›Making concentrated juice involves removing the pulp and other natural components of the fruit, eliminating many of the essential nutrients of the fruits. Finally, concentrated juice often has an inferior taste and quality compared to freshly squeezed juice, as it can be watered down and artificially flavored.

Is there a lot of sugar in freshly squeezed orange juice? ›Orange Juice – 24g (6 teaspoons) of sugar per 8 oz.
of juice, meaning a small 8 oz. glass of orange juice has the equivalent of 4 oranges. So eating an orange with your breakfast makes sense but downing a glass of orange juice is actually 4 times the sugar.
Although fruit juice does contain vitamins and minerals, it also contains a huge amount of sugar, specifically fructose and glucose. One glass of orange juice contains roughly 26g of sugar, the equivalent of around 6 teaspoons of sugar or a glass of Coca-cola.
Is fresh squeezed OJ better than store bought? ›If you squeeze the fruit yourself, yes. Fresh orange juice contains valuable nutrients, including vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Industrially produced fruit juice (the type you buy in the shops) is a different matter. Manufacturers claim their juice is 100% pure and natural, but this isn't the case.
What's the healthiest orange juice? ›Best: Uncle Matt's
Uncle Matt's is made with organic oranges. The fruit in this juice is grown without the use of synthetic pesticides or GMOs. The juice also doesn't contain any added sugar, isn't made from concentrate, and there are no weird thickeners or artificial colorings.
Not all orange juice is made the same — some contain added sugars or contain only a small percentage of real juice, decreasing its nutritional benefits. Fresh-squeezed or 100% orange juice are healthier options.
What happens when you drink freshly squeezed orange juice? ›
The Bottom Line

Yes, Freshly squeezed and Store-bought Orange juice does quite well in the freezer and will last for many months (from 8 to a year) instead of days or a week. What is this? Even better, there's not too much complexity in the process. You just need to choose a freezer-safe container and pour the juice in.
Can you drink too much fresh squeezed orange juice? ›Without any satiating, digestion-slowing nutrients like fiber, healthy fats, or protein, orange juice can cause a spike and crash in blood sugar, which may cause weight gain in the same way that soda does, according to a JAMA study. That's particularly concerning if you're drinking OJ regularly on its own.
Do you have to drink juice immediately after juicing? ›Not Drinking It Right Away
Try to drink your juice straight away! After 15 minutes, light and air will destroy a lot of the nutrients and also all the awesome antioxidants will begin to lose their potency.
Freshly squeezed orange juice has the shortest lifespan among them all, especially if it's got pulp in it. It's best to drink it on the same day you squeezed the oranges, but it is still safe to drink it within two to three days.
Is it healthy to drink fresh squeezed juice everyday? ›However, you may be surprised that drinking juice daily can lead to adverse health outcomes. "Consuming juice every day may spike blood sugar levels, increase total calories consumed in the day, contribute to weight gain and increase risk of cavities," cautions Garcia.
Is freshly squeezed juice good for weight loss? ›There is no scientific evidence that specifically consuming juice helps with weight loss. Juicing can be part of a balanced diet that does help with reaching a moderate weight, but the juice itself has no special ability to burn fat or remove toxins, as some people may claim.
Does freshly squeezed orange juice lose its vitamins? ›In addition, you are right that juice loses its nutritional value over time. Due to light and oxygen exposure, the nutrient content of fresh juice diminishes over time. Some sensitive nutrients begin to oxidize or degrade, especially if you pour the juice into a glass without a lid.
